Polyphasic Sleep, Day 38 February 7, 2007
Posted by The Probabilist in : [News], Sleep, Blogging , trackback
Lately, I’ve been more of a biphasic sleeper. I tend to get 2-4 hours of sleep when I go to my 8 a.m. nap and at 8 p.m. I either get my intended 30 minutes of sleep or I oversleep a couple of hours. I’m averaging 4 hours of sleep per day.
Because of this strange diversity, I only attempt to take a nap 4 or 5 times per day and I pretty much know when I’m going to fall asleep and when I’m just lying there with my eyelids slightly twitching. I can’t really tell if these naps without sleep have a restorative effect, but it’s a possibility.
Mostly, my polyphasic schedule suffers from the freezing temperatures (-25 degrees yesterday) because it’s the only thing about weather that I just can’t stand being exposed of. Rain, snow and wind is fine, but I’m the the type that doesn’t suffer from hot temperatures, but really avoid being cold. So basically, instead of enjoying some good exercises after every nap, which I enjoyed, I’m feeling a bit passive both physically and mentaly. And this means that my sleep pattern isn’t working the way it’s supposed to.
I’m still going to continue as I have done previously, and focus more attention on the polyphasic system during March. My main focus for February is to write plenty of posts about blogging and also to increase my exposure. Four hours of sleep per day will have to do for now because I’m so occupied with minding other businesses. And as I said earlier, if I want to reach maximum productivity over a work task or issue, it needs the majority of my mind’s attention both in effect and time. Eight hours of monophasic sleep is nevertheless, out of the question.

How is the polyphasic sleep going?
I’ve started experimenting with Everyman sleep rather than the Uberman, which is too restrictive in schedule.
Have you perfected your technique?
