IMDb is the biggest, best, most award-winning movie site on the planet. So they state and I can’t dispute it. I’m somewhat of a movie bug and can’t help but to always become totally in tune and part of a movie and not just experience it as an external spectator. Even if you don’t watch movies frequently, the internet movie database offers details and insights on new and past movies as well as means to filter out the ones you’re most likely to enjoy.

I use this source just about every time I’m encountered by a movie title - whenever something airs on TV, whenever I see a trailer of something upcoming in theaters and whenever I decide on renting or buying a DVD. What you’ll find on each title are the credits, genre, brief plot description, overall rating, cast overview, details and comments. In order to participate in the message boards, rate a movie or even manage your own collection of movies you need to complete a quick and free form of registration.

Since it’s a database there’s a great deal of search indexes to help you find the title you’re looking for, even the old nostalgic childhood movies, which names you’ve forgotten. The options are about 50 so I won’t list them here, but they can be found in the search tips page. The most notable option is the several top lists by rating and they can be listed by genre, year, decade and even the all time worst movies to date. I’ve bought several movies just out of the excellent ratings they’ve received.

What’s notable for a person like me is also that the movies aren’t restricted to a certain region, but movies from any country with any language are part of the database. It’s also a newsworthy source as they list dates of upcoming movie openings and DVD releases. Whatever your focus of interest in movies is be sure to check out the site if you haven’t done so already.
